Personal exhibition by Michael Eldridge, 24 October - 9 November 2019

Michael Eldridge is a painter and photographer originally from London, now living in the Marche region.

Eldridge's artistic research leads to a refined pictorial synthesis that combines in a perfect symbiosis landscape painting to the instances of a fully Expressionist-abstract aesthetic.

Nature is, in fact, the starting point of Eldridge, or rather what it has around it and which inspires it: the Marche countryside from the Sibillini mountains to the Adriatic sea, passing through the placid curves of the hills and the colors of the vineyards and fields cultivated.

This very precious material is re-elaborated by the artist's creativity in a powerful synthesis that sees as absolute protagonists the color and the pictorial gesture.

Eldridge arrives at a compendium of the Marche landscape in which the (naturalistic) form gives way to a spiritual transposition of reality that is realized in the energetically symbolic scope of the chromatic composition.

We also recognize the photographer's gaze, in this passage, which filters everything he sees into a play of light and structure balances.

And that's exactly what happens in the paintings of Michael Eldridge: the beauty of the landscape is transcended in the harmony of a composition with objective aesthetic values.

Michael Eldridge's intent is exactly to create, in his works, an expressionist language that communicates to the user, through objective elements of color and structure, the full sensory experience of the landscape.
